For the first time since 2004, the Mutineer National Championship competition will return to Floridas gulf waters. The Tampa Sailing Squadron and Fleet 18 invite you, your crew, AND your family to Apollo Beach on the shores of beautiful Tampa Bay for our SunShine Nationals cheers beers and Mutineers event!

The TSS leadership and members are very excited to be hosting our nationals, and have been working very hard wrapping up their facilities upgrades in preparation, and well in time for our arrival. Stay tuned here at RegattaTech for updates on TSS awesome home port, local amenities, and Apollo Beach community support of MNC 2015. You can check out TSS on their website at http://www.sail-tss.org/

Florida Mutineer Fleet #18 membership has continued to grow on the success of previous nationals, local Mutineer regatta events, and MCA leadership. Also as you may know Tampa Sailing Squadron has added our Mutineer 15 to their youth and adult sailing program, and this has really stimulated local and national interest in our little boat. Fleet 18 and TSS plan on contributing at least 14 boats to the roster of hopefully 20-25 entries in October.

As we continue to ride the Texas sized coat tails of last years awesome MNC event, and on behalf of TSS and Fleet 18 we invite you to put this years MNC 2015 SunShine Nationals at Tampa Sailing Squadron on your Fall regatta schedule. Come sail with us (and the dolphins) and well see you on sunny Tampa Bay in October!

Every year new sailors come the Nationals for the first time wondering if they should, questioning themselves based on what they feel is their lack of experience. Every one of them has indicated they were so glad they did because they learned so much, had a great time meeting new friends who also enjoy sailing, and found there were others with their exact same ability to have fun competing against.

So why should you make this year, the year to attend? We could list many reasons, but here are our top 3.

1. Tampa Sailing Squadron- A great sailing facility with friendly people who are excited about hosting the Mutineer Class and seeing you have a great week in the beautiful Florida sun.

2. Tampa Bay - With average winds in the 8-12 mph range, and sailing a close proximity to the club, the Bay bay will provide a great non threatening sailing experience that will allow sailors of all abilities to enjoy their time on the water.

3. Ernie French, 9-time Mutineer 15 National Champion is offering a special reason to attend this years Nationals. Ernie will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons just prior to the start of this years Nationals to sail with, advise, and help anyone and everyone answering any questions you have regarding your boat or just getting around the course faster. Ernie is willing to discuss and demonstrate skipper & crew roles, spinnaker setting/trimming, and everything in between. He does a great job helping beginners as well as experienced sailors become better. No matter what your level of sailing experience, this is a great chance to drag your boat to Apollo Beach and gain a ton of knowledge. Experienced sailors are encouraged to come early for the weekend also, as he will sail and help everyone.

He has also indicated he would love to lead a Q & A session of the top finishers and allow all competitors to ask questions after each day of racing. A great way over some beverages to have some relax time to learn more after a great day on the water.

If you would like to reserve a time to sail with him on your boat, or his, please email Herb Maquire of your day of preference.

In addition to the Mutineer, he has also won 5 National Championships in 2 other classes (MC Scow and Santana 23), twice been selected to US Sailings Championship of Champions (2006 & 2011), has been an Instructor Trainer for US Sailing, and is currently Head Coach for his local High School Girls Tennis Team. He is in his 37th year as a State Farm Insurance Agent.

WE WELCOME BEGINNERS WHO WANT TO LEARN TO BECOME BETTER SAILORS!!! THIS WILL BE A GREAT YEAR TO LEARN, SO PLEASE COME JOIN US!!

STAY ABOARD review draft. 7/28/15

Some members of TSS are offering the opportunity for MNC 2015 participants to a complementary stay on their sailboats docked at TSS or in their homes.

This is a great opportunity because participants will be right at all the great TSS facilities and
with very good restaurants a short walk away.

Typicality these sailboats include:
sleeping for 2 persons easily and up to 4 persons
limited marine head with holding tank (best to use restrooms/showers at TSS)
have a small galley with icebox (free ice at TSS) or small refrigerator
limited shore power and no A/C

It would be kind if participants would bring their own linens and keep the boats neat and tidy.

If you would be interested in staying aboard a TSS member sailboat, just contact:
